ߣߣÊÓƵ University’s College of Education, Health and Society has received an “A” grade in Reading Foundations from the (NCTQ) for its undergraduate elementary teacher preparation program, recognizing its strong focus on scientifically based reading instruction.
The rating places ߣߣÊÓƵ among a select group of programs nationwide that meet NCTQ’s rigorous standards for reading instruction, including explicit coverage of the five key components of the “science of reading”: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
“This recognition reflects the strength of our literacy curriculum and the expertise of our faculty, who are committed to preparing future educators to meet the needs of all learners,” said Amity Noltemeyer, dean of the College of Education, Health and Society.
NCTQ noted that ߣߣÊÓƵ’s program includes evidence-based coursework and instructional practices without any content contrary to research-based methods. Courses also incorporate exemplary practices, including coverage of the science of reading and assessments aligned to that framework.
