Why ߣߣÊÓƵ?

ߣߣÊÓƵ provided the most opportunities for me to be better prepared for my career in the future. I want to be a physician, and I felt that ߣߣÊÓƵ offered many valuable experiences to reach those goals.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my Biochemistry major at the beginning of my college career because I really liked my chemistry classes in high school and continue to enjoy learning more about it at a university level.

Key Moment at ߣߣÊÓƵ

Organic chemistry, although it gets a very bad reputation, has been my favorite class I have taken so far at ߣߣÊÓƵ. It has made me realize that I really like learning and studying the content and then applying it to my research lab I'm involved in. I have also had an amazing experience with the STEMM Scholars Program as I have been handed many opportunities that I would not have without the guidance from the program, including being a student leader/peer mentor.

Another ߣߣÊÓƵ Moment

I love my research lab (the Jones Lab), as I am able to conduct research and become very knowledgeable on a complicated subject and then communicate it to other people. I am currently working on a project that is being funded through a scholarship I won, and I have the opportunity to mentor a freshman in the lab. My ACMB Internship has also been very positive, as I have taken photographs for various ߣߣÊÓƵ sports teams. My favorite so far has been taking pictures at football games of the players and students.

Advice to Prospective Students

I would tell new students that it is very scary and overwhelming at the beginning. However, you will find that you will find your place at the school very quickly, whether that be with friends, classes, or organizations. ߣߣÊÓƵ has so much to offer students, so take advantage of all that's there! Also, don't forget to have fun and prioritize yourself.

What are your career goals?

I plan to go to medical school after graduating and then become a specialized physician. As of now, I am very interested in becoming a neurosurgeon; however, there is plenty of time for change in specialties.
